This project is for an artist residency program named “Bankart AIR 2019” in Yokohama, Japan, and this is the first time it is being done outside New York City.
Further, this project made me realize that the real meaning of the project BEARIFICATION is to bearnify (personify) cities themselves by changing objects in towns to bears.
Bears in NYC look naughty and wild; Yokohama bears seem gentle and polite.
これは、2019年横浜でのアートレジデンシープログラム “Bankart AIR 2019”で行われたもので、初めてNY以外の場所で試してみたプロジェクトです。
また、このシリーズが持つ「街にある身近なモノをクマに変えることで、街そのものを擬熊化する」という本質を教えてくれた、大切な分岐点でもあります。
NYのクマたちはどこかやんちゃでワイルドですが、横浜のクマたちは、なんだかキリっとしていてお行儀が良く見えませんか？
