This series is an experiment based on my idea of bearification”—or, what happens if I bearnify (personify) NYC as bears.

Bearification is my coinage, which comes from “personification.” For a long time, I had worked to transform and bearsonate (personate) bears to various things such as vehicles, foods, nature, stationaries and buildings, and so on.

However, I had never grasped landscapes—such as the city—as bears. I really felt it would be fun; so I took pictures of my neighborhood and captured the essence of this city in my paintings. All the titles of the series are inspired by the actual names of places in the five boroughs of NYC.
